Summary
It’s too hot. And it’s too hot for him to try and figure out how an android can even drink anything.
“Hows the coffee?” He asks, smiling politely and he watches Amamiya duck his head, once again messing with his hair as he chews on his lip for a second.
“The beans were burnt.” He says, and Goro wants to know if its possible to squeeze the life out of something that isn’t technically alive. He wonders for half a second, what constitutes as being alive. If its measured in humanity, or the ability to think for ones self. Or probably something he hadn’t even considered, something deeper than that where it cant be described by a few words alone. And apparently his brain is stuck on theoreticals and philosophy that he cant shut off.
An idea sparks, and Goro sets his drink down with a soft clack as he leans back in his chair.
“What do you think being alive means?” He asks, voicing his thoughts out loud, this seems to throw the other off for half a second before his own mask slips on and hes crossing his arms.

Where Goro has to alter his plans slightly to account for unsuspecting road bumps, and emotions he had tried to bury for years.

“I should start by saying that I’m madly in love with you.”
Akechi stares, waiting for a punchline to come. But it never does. He’s never felt more tempted to drop his charming persona just to tell the other guy to fuck off.
“You mean my novels?” He asks innocently, covering up his anger with nervous laughter that he can only hope sounds like embarrassment. Embarrassment is good – it’s socially acceptable, makes him look shy, and there are people already sending curious glances their way. He needs to keep up appearances no matter how much the guy makes his skin crawl.
“No,” the asshole says. He’s not even invading Akechi’s personal space, but for some unexplained reason, Akechi feels threatened. As if the curious gaze alone is capable of all but stripping him naked. “My name is Akira Kurusu, and I believe I just blatantly confessed my love for you.”
In which Akechi is a successful novelist, and Akira is his greatest rival.

Akira looked over his shoulder at Ryuji and Ann, who were staring at Akechi and Akira in confusion, and flashed a cheeky grin. “Nah,” said Akira breezily. “This is my sugar daddy!” Promptly after, Akira stumbled, and Akechi’s iron-grip around his arm tightened, catching him.
“You belong in the gutter,” muttered Akechi, throwing him in the passenger side and slamming the door.
Two years after a public panic attack forced him to abandon his title as a shogi prodigy and a lucrative career, Akira Kurusu is suffocating under his parents' debt, balancing multiple part-time jobs, and barely clinging to his university enrollment. When forced to join an extracurricular to maintain his scholarship, Akira is forced to enter the Chess Association, a fake club Debate Prince Goro Akechi concocted to give himself a private club room.
After being evicted from his apartment, Akira is assigned to dorm with Goro Akechi, and are forced to learn how to tolerate one another!
