Was it wise for Oscar to go out and celebrate despite all the warning signs? Probably not. Hence why, here he was, two weeks later, staring at those two mocking pink lines he never thought he'd see again. Which, in his defense, took two to tango.
In which Oscar just wants the season to be over to tell Lando, but Aaliyah clearly has different plans.

"Do you want me to carry you to bed?" Max asked, hand coming to a stop on top of his curls. "My back ducking sore." A laughter spilled out of his lips unexpectedly at that, a smile forming on his face as he tilted his head upwards to be met with a familiar smile.
"Getting old are we?" Charles joked, green eyes shining with mischief. "Are you sure you won't drop me?"
"I'll never drop you," Max scoffed, one hand coming up to lift his chin up, where green met blue like the tasman sea. "You know that right?"

Oscar was so screwed. Lando never said anything about wanting pups, and even if he did, the timing right now was absolutely not it. Having lost out on the championship last year, he was more determined than ever to become one this year—having spent all his free time practicing on the sim and keeping fit through various different activities. There was no way it was going to be okay.
Or oscar goes to find charles to ask for advice but the truth is the author just wanted to write lestappen

Lando freezes for a moment as he comes to terms with it. The realization that he’s speaking with Verstappen’s newest team driver, a driver that is arguably one of the most talented, successful GT and endurance drivers on the worldwide circuit.
And worst of all - Lando hadn’t recognized him one bit.

You can’t open yourself to Charles and try to exist in his charmed life without becoming irrevocably enamoured.
When Max let Charles walk into his motorhome, when he let Charles slip into his existence, Max didn’t know it then but the battle was already lost.

Summary
Pierre once said that Charles is a good person with a monster inside of him. A rabid, hungry beast that craves attention, that may well be chained down and locked away in a dark corner, but is there, lingering, waiting for a moment of weakness where it can pounce, break the bars and rampage.
Charles tells Pierre that driving for Alpine has made him completely insane.
It’s not his fault he’s so perceptive, is what he argues. (Pierre just rolls his eyes again and tells Charles he’s a lost cause.) When people are literally falling all over themselves to be near him, to touch him, to worship him, of course he is going to notice it.
So, of course, he notices Max’s crush.
