‘Erm.’ Tobirama cleared his throat to get his attention. ‘It has been brought to my attention that you are looking to be wed.’ He finally spoke up in a carefully measured voice.
This time, Madara definitely choked on his own spit, his thoughts coming up to a screeching halt. Coughing a few times, he hurriedly reached for a handkerchief to prevent another disaster from happening. One careless fiasco with his brother was enough, he didn’t need the whole village gossiping about his pining, thank you very much.
‘I’ll do it.’ Tobirama offered quickly.
For a few beats, Madara just gaped like a fish, his mouth parched. Surely, he must have misheard. Surely Tobirama hasn't actually proposed what he thought he did. Right? ‘I beg your pardon?’

"The cut from the Hagoromo," Tobirama says, and then pauses, as if somehow that's all he needs to say.
"The one on your finger?" Madara prompts. "The one so shallow it didn't even bleed?"
"Tch." Tobirama's gaze swings up from disdainfully glaring at the crumpled Hagoromo corpses below to meet Madara's eyes, no fear in him at all. Arrogant, brilliant, infuriating - how can this man have no problem going toe to toe with Madara in the council chamber, fight beside him and keep up, and yet get compromised by a papercut? "It's poison."
He packs away his kit with efficient movements, preempting Madara's reaction by continuing,
"An adapted and updated version of their aphrodisiac, most likely; the chemical signature is closest to it."

Madara and Tobirama get sent on a mission to try and learn to work together. They weren't expecting the aphrodisiacs, or just what 'working together' would have to mean.

Hashirama is staring up at the daimyo, mouthing something, that if it echoes Madara’s feelings, is likely “what the fuck?” The two negotiators glance at each other in utter bafflement, as shocked as the rest of them, and Madara readies himself to rise and take the daimyo’s throat in his fist.
