Bucky felt his muscles untense a little in relief. He continued down the alleyway again, this time at a brisker pace. He was preparing himself to see a kid, maybe hurt after he got mugged, or injured after doing something stupid he didn’t want his parents to know about, or beaten up trying to defend himself.
An image of a scrawny Steve floated to the forefront of his mind, but he quickly shoved it to the back again.
All of that being said, nothing could have prepared himself for what he actually saw.
Tucked into the corner of an alleyway, sitting, was New York’s one and only red-and-blue-costumed vigilante, now with a little too much red, as blood was flowing from a wound that he was futilely pressing down on.
