Morgan Freeman looked at Mercedes Oak-Garcia, who was just unfairly attractive for a woman who was so clearly out of her damn gourd, and then at Carol Wilson, who was even more repressed than her college girlfriend before meeting Jodie, and settled, finally, on Samantha Harker-Stampler. Practical braids, unflappable eyes, and she'd actually been at the range last night, tiny little 9mm in her smooth brown hands while Phyllis flapped her hands at Morgan in a panic.
"So, I'm going to shoot your father-in-law in the head. Are you okay with that?"

Summary
When John disappears without a trace during a routine mission, people in a beleaguered Atlantis eventually have to try to move on. Rodney never completely gives up hope of finding John, and though he soldiers on to help Atlantis, a year later he still lives every day with his grief.
The story opens with a shocking discovery that may help Rodney come to terms with some truths about himself and his relationship with John, and will have consequences beyond what anyone might predict.
