“You will not be so friendly when we beat you.” Yes. That’s pretty good. It’s not the exact thing he wants to say, but it sounds cool, though he could have done better in Russian. Before the draft, he has to practise more, so that by the time he’s playing in the NHL, he’ll be better. He wants to be able to chirp properly. English is not a very good language for insults, but Ilya knows he’ll be good at using it for that anyway.

The next hour is kind of awful.
Hayden's brain keeps turning up worst case scenarios (he's sick, he's still too injured to play, he's been traded to LA, he's requested a move to Boston because he got Lily pregnant out of wedlock). Shane is wearing his media-smile. Jackie is doing all the heavy lifting, conversation wise, and clearly peeved at Hayden for not being chill about whatever talk Shane wants to have after this.
OR: Shane is dating Ilya Rozanov, which is better and worse than what Hayden was expecting.

Roz stares across at his husband then shrugs. “You are bluffing. Is fine, go ahead. There is nothing anyway, you can’t win.”
“Well, I was just thinking,” Hollander says, “that the guys might be interested to hear that you...have a type?” Marly could swear Shane’s eyes glanced in the direction of Scott Hunter. Could swear too that Roz tracked the movement.
