Summary
Cliff Marleau doesn't know what the fuck happened between Rozy and Montreal Jane a month ago, but if Rozanov doesn't let up on all this extra conditioning he's going to lose a rookie.
Rozanov has been miserable ever since the last time they played Montreal, and Marleau's smart enough to put two and two together. This reeks of girlfriend trouble.
Or of "not quite girlfriend" trouble, as the case may be.
Whatever his Captain did, Marleau takes it up on himself to tell Montreal Jane just how sorry Ilya is, and beg for forgiveness on his behalf.

But there is nothing wrong with giving Chernysh all the pats and treats that he deserves, is there?
Nothing wrong with encouraging Chernysh to spend more and more time at Ilya's house until he doesn't even remember who Hollander is.
Because Hollander is stupid and boring and does not deserve a dog as good as Chernysh. No, he doesn't, does he? Because Chernysh is the best boy in the whole world, yes he is.

Summary

This is pure fantasy, full stop. It is set in a Russian-mafia AU where a crime boss ruling by a firm hand is part of the world's logic, and where the intensity is turned up well past anything you should ever bring into a real relationship. So please be safe and read this as fiction and catharsis.
Inside the story, though, understand that this is exactly where Shane wants to be. He's not a victim of it; he craves this dynamic, thrives in it, and feels safest and most himself when Ilya takes charge.
