Summary

Izuku is holding the knife incorrectly, with both hands clasped tightly around the hilt. He swipes at Tomura whenever a hand dances too close, but never manages to land a hit.

Tomura does.

Caught up in the rising thrill, he swipes his hand across Izuku’s throat before he can stop himself.
Tomura and Izuku are tools, weapons, made for destruction and being destroyed respectively.

Summary

He certainly feels overwhelmed right now, as his admiration and awe are shoved aside for horror while he watches Midoriya Izuku hold a building on his back.

Green lightning flashes around them, lighting up the small space they're trapped in. It's incredible and sickening all at once.
Tenya, Shouto, and Izuku find themselves trapped underneath a building. Tenya holds them together.

Summary

The first time Deku reaches his hand out is when the string appears. Katsuki watches as it phases into existence, wrapping itself around his and Deku’s wrists like an eel or a snake. It knots itself tight, and Katsuki's heart is too young to know what that means. Water rushes past his knees and in his ears, and he stares, and stares, and stares.

“Are you okay, Kacchan?” Deku asks, ignoring the string completely. His eyes are so big and wide with concern, but they don’t flicker to the string even once. “You fell pretty far…”
Katsuki can see the red line tying him and Izuku together. He hates it.

Summary

“It’s nice to meet you! I’ve really been looking forward to having a mage around to help on this quest."

“How lucky for you that I answered your job ad then,” Shinsou said, his tone dry. Izuku would be the first to admit he wasn’t the best at reading people, but he was almost sure Shinsou meant to be sarcastic. He just didn’t seem interested in putting enough effort in for the sarcasm to fully hit home.

“Well, yes,” Izuku responded. “I mean, I really do need help. There’s some monsters in this dungeon that are just way above my power level.”
An unlikely pair dive into a dungeon.

Summary

Esdras Al-Ridha is born in 1899, in his mother’s family home. His birth certificate, when it’s written a month later by Dr. Yuriy Rockbell, will declare his name Edward Elric. It will name his mother Trisha, and it will say nothing of her white hair. It will say nothing of the blue desert sky he first opens his eyes under, the way he is passed to relative after relative and is held and blessed by each.
(Even before the war, tensions are high, and hatred is brewing. Tirzah holds her newborn son, with eyes as gold as his father’s, and pale-sun hair halfway there, and she decides that if Ishvala wants him hidden, then Tirzah will not brand him where his genes have not.)

Summary

Eshkhan and Atal El-Rizq are born to a single mother in the small Ishvalan village of Ahlirat. Much like the rest of their people, Executive Order 3066 is their destruction.
If the two seriously-injured children that appear suddenly in Resembool, days after Ahlirat is systemically terminated, look curiously like them, it's simply a coincidence.
Nothing else.

Summary

The groundskeeper and the detective stand on either side of the opened grave, peering into the sunken hole from which, it is clear, something has recently emerged.

Even in the dark the claw marks in the dirt are unmistakable — to say nothing of the splintered casket, the lid burst open from the inside. A deep sense of dread quickly overwhelms whatever hope Shouta had so foolishly begun to foster on the drive over. Those marks are long, thick — it beggars belief that blunt human fingernails managed to carve so deep into the wood.

or: the dead don’t tend to walk from their own graves — at least, not without very good reason.

Summary

Katsuki sighs. “One to ten?”

Izuku blinks at him, slow and sleepy and really not there. Katsuki counts in his mind, waiting for a reply.

“Eight?” Izuku says, the words slurring. “Comes after seven, right?”

Katsuki snorts. The nerd is fucking out of it. “Migraine?”

“Mmph,” Izuku replies, his eyes shutting. He breathes deeply, and Katsuki holds onto that. Despite all of the—all of the things that have happened to them, and the constant pain that always bites at Izuku’s heels—there’s the scratch of Izuku’s curls under his palm, the heat from Izuku’s body next to him, and the breaths telegraphed so clearly, even to Katsuki’s drifting focus.

Izuku is here. Katsuki is here. All is well.
Or...If all Izuku asks for is comfort, who is Katsuki to deny it?
