    All of that was a constant, a predefined truth before you’d entered the House.
    Now you felt so out of depth.
    Isabeau and Mirabelle started using skills you‘d never seen them use. Odile used much more complicated and dangerous skills than before. And even Bonnie was far more eager to fight. What’s worse, they were allowed to fight. No one seemed to bat an eye when Bonnie stood right next to you during one of the first fights with Sadness in the House. You tried to make them back off, to support you only when they had a chance, but Odile shrugged.
    “Let the kid have their fun,” she said as if that was something you always did. As if allowing a preteen fight was a normal thing to do.

    (Or, Siffrin's party was behaving strangely since entering the House. Like they knew something Siffrin didn't.)
