“You heard me. You’re not going,” Derek explains, not offering more information as to why Stiles can’t go.

His breaths were ragged, and his body shook, but Xie Lian did all he could to stay still, knowing that fighting it would only encourage Hua Cheng to make him wait even longer. The look on Hua Cheng's face was almost predatory; he'd caught his prey and was enjoying playing with his meal. Barely audibly, Xie Lian breathed, "Fuck…"
"Tsk tsk," Hua Cheng clicked his tongue disapprovingly despite his complacent smile. "Such a dirty mouth. What happened to those princely manners?" He sighed dramatically. "What am I going to do with you?"

His gaze caught first on the sharp line of the man’s jaw before traveling downward over a broad chest. A long, black high ponytail splayed over a strong set of shoulders. An eyepatch concealed one eye, while the other regarded him with a fierce, amused intensity.
“What can I get you to drink, gege?” the man asked, his voice low and smooth.
OR: On the day of his 27th birthday, Xie Lian gets dragged to the bar by Shi Qingxuan to celebrate. He doesn't drink, and he's totally out of his depth in this nice establishment. The last thing he expects is to be completely entranced by the young man behind the counter.

Xie Lian expects anything except the low chuckle Hua Cheng lets out. He sees the way his shoulders relaxes completely, leaning back slightly against the wooden frame with indifference.
“Is that what they are saying?” Hua Cheng asks, his tone dripping with an amused, easygoing disdain. “The barracks must be more desperately bored than I realized.” He scoffs gently, “Your Highness should ignore them. It is nothing but the idle fantasies of men who have spent too many weeks staring at fortress walls.”
Xie Lian stands perfectly still on his side of the divider. Despite hearing the careless dismissal in Hua Cheng’s voice, his own heart refuses to slow down.
“So is it not true that you are breaking curfew for… someone else? Besides for… coming here, of course.”
Or, Crown Prince Xie Lian hears a rumor that his long-time friend, general and personal guard Hua Cheng is taken. He hates the sound of it. So much that he comes up with an ill-advised plan to test if the rumors are actually true. A truly faithful man would not fall for such schemes, right?
