That is true. Malleus has dedicated a great portion of his nights—and days, as well—to fulfilling as many odd tasks and princely duties as he physically could throughout Leona’s pregnancy… All with the sole goal of being excused from all duties by the time the egg arrived.
He still does not know what their child will look like, but he knows the fact that she’s developing within an egg means she will need an unthinkable amount of love and magic for her to hatch.
“Promise?”
“Of course. I promise.” Words he cannot take back, that he does not wish to take back either. Malleus takes Leona’s hand in his own. He kisses the back of its bloodstained fingers. “For you, I will do anything.”
Malleus loves Leona. That is all there is to it.
