Summary
A/N: I posted this a couple of years ago, abandoned it, and am now doing major revisions.
A sentient magical object awakens in the teenaged hands of Severus Snape, and briefly glimpses his future. The stark, lonely life he faces needs more room for hope, it thinks. It pulls what few strings are left to pull, loosening his timeline just enough for a little bit of hope, and perhaps even happiness.
In 2014, Elinor O'Connell, an exchange student at Hogwarts, searches for answers about her mysterious parentage. When all the usual means of discovering her roots fail, how far will she be willing to go to find them?
In 1996, Severus Snape worries about placing all of his hopes for success on Harry Potter, the-boy-who-lived-to-be-a-pain-in-his-arse. He wonders if the odds might be better served by bringing Hermione Granger into the fold.
In 1996, Hermione Granger is determined to do everything she can to help Harry succeed against Voldemort, even if that means dedicating all of her free time to learning how to survive a war.

Summary
Hermione Granger is trapped in Grimmauld Place, under house arrest, with three men who should be dead. Their close quarters and isolation from the outside world quickly prove problematic when Sirius Black’s fixation on her spirals out of control. Remus Lupin is too weighed down by his own guilt to notice, which leaves Severus Snape to once again take on the role of protector. They could hardly have thought of anything that would infuriate Sirius more if they’d tried.

Summary
Hermione Granger and her best friends are spending their last summer holiday at Grimmauld Place, and beg for the Order for something useful to do. When they are presented with a list of chores, no one wants to help Professor Snape with brewing. Hermione draws the short straw and ends up being Snape's lab assistant. The collaboration of the two of them sets unexpected events into motion that will eventually change the wizarding world.
Hermione's POV.
The story focuses on the slowly growing relationship between Severus Snape and Hermione Granger, and follows them to her last year at Hogwarts. It is mixed with the adventure of horcrux hunting. While the relationship blossoms while they are still a student and teacher, Hermione is of age by the time anything happens between them (actually 19 because of the time she aged using a time turner).
If you do not like the pairing, please do not read.
