    After discovering that half of them are banned from Walmart and that the local Target burned down, the boys attempt one simple task: buy onions for Time. It goes catastrophically wrong almost immediately.

     

    Legend was standing in front of the produce display staring at a handwritten chalk sign with naked disbelief. He picked up one onion carefully, turned it over once in his hand, then looked back at the sign. “…What the fuck is an organic onion?” he demanded loudly. “Aren’t all onions organi—” He saw the price and recoiled physically. “HOLY FUCK!” he yelled. “IT’S SIX DOLLARS FOR ONE?”

    Several shoppers jumped, a nearby mother hurried her child away instinctively. Twilight sneezed violently into Warriors’ handkerchief. Legend held the onion up like evidence in a criminal trial. “This is extortion.”

    “It’s locally sourced?” Twilight offered helpfully.

    “From WHERE!” Legend cried. “The moon?”
