Summary
"I've turned it over in my mind again and again," Nesta said, and looking at her now he saw the glassiness of her eyes. The faraway look that indicated some sort of shock. "It must have been about equality, right? I'm your mate, I'm expected to be equal to you."
Cassian's mouth fell open, and he looked helplessly at Azriel who, despite all his efforts at constant stoicism, appeared nothing short of stricken.
"I know it must be a disappointment that I did not make Carynthian."
"Nesta," His brother began, his voice strained. "Do you think we put you in that Rite?"
His mate finally lifted her gaze, settling her unfocused eyes on the shadowsinger without any real heat in them.
"Didn't you?"
---
In which, in the aftermath of the Blood Rite, Nesta's mind suffers more than Cassian realizes, resulting in a horrific misunderstanding. -

Summary
Nesta Archeron disappeared three months to the day after the end of the war against Hybern.
Without so much as a whisper, she slipped away into the night, leaving it all behind.
The Night Court. Her sisters. Him.
There were no answers, no justification, no anything.
As quickly as she appeared into his life, she vanished, as if she were never there. The few things she owned were left abandoned, locked away in an attic, to be forgotten like so many other relics of their lost ones.
Three years later and the wound still burned as if she’d stabbed him directly in the chest.
---
When Nesta disappears at the end of the war, everyone believes she simply left on her own free will, without a care for anyone, least of all him.But when the hunt for the Dread Trove begins and Cassian is tasked with bringing her back home - at any cost - he learns that not everything is as it seems.

Summary
“Are you…” Nesta started, her voice nothing but a raspy whisper. “Are you real?”
She said the words as if she couldn’t bear to speak them fully aloud, as if she didn’t quite believe that he was.
Cassian blinked, brows furrowing. Not once had he ever seen her like this, not even when Elain had been put into the Cauldron, and not even during the war that followed. This was a level of horror he’d rarely seen in anyone, let alone this female, who was stoic until the last moment, always. And so, he heard himself say,
“I’m real. I’m real, sweetheart. See?”
Her eyes flicked down to his chest again, as if she didn’t believe him, and he reached for her injured hand gently, moving it so it could rest over his sternum, where his heartbeat rapidly.
“What is it?” He asked again. “Was it a dream?”
Her eyes met his, tears still streaming down her face. In a voice that was almost childlike, betraying her own confusion, she asked,
“You don’t see him?”

Or, when Amren pushes Nesta too far at training, she unlocks the full potential of her power, and with it comes devastating consequences.A post-ACOWAR AU in which Lady Death sees the dead, with chaotic results.

Summary
England - May, 1944
“Your husband doesn't write you.”
Nesta didn't look up from where she was primly folding one of his men's uniforms.
“Well, Captain, he is fighting a war.”
Cassian frowned, knowing full well the men in his Company wrote every chance they could, anxious to hear from their wives, to be reminded what it was all for. Her words were an excuse. A deflection from a lovelessness that cracked his heart in two.
“I don't suppose you would let me?” He asked.
"Let you what?"
“Write you, sweetheart.”
--
While training for the Allies' invasion Europe, Captain Cassian Garcia of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment meets the mysterious Nesta Mandray and finds a light in the darkness. Beautiful, if not burdened by some deep sadness, he finds he cannot stay away, even with the ring around her finger.
When Nesta Mandray meets the bold, yet inexplicably handsome American Officer lodging next door, her dream of escape from a loveless marriage becomes increasingly hard to ignore. But a life scarred makes for a woman cautious, and it will take more than brief conversations over clean linens to convince her to take a leap of faith.

Summary
He sleeps in the bed closest to the door, his pistol nestled discreetly under his pillow; he still does not trust Valjean not to disappear in the night with Cosette. It is, however, the darkest part of winter, and there are no carriages because there is snow on almost all parts of the road that don't lead through the deepest part of the dip in between the mountains; the valley where they are nestled.
---
Javert catches Valjean and Cosette, but things don't go according to plan. It's January 1824 and they are stuck in an inn in a valley in the Alps and there is no way to move forwards.

Summary
Javert suffers a head injury during his capture at the barricades, leaving his behavior erratic and Valjean in the uncomfortable position of having to ensure the safety of the one man he would most prefer to leave behind him.
Javert buried his head in his hands, his broad shoulders trembling and strangely fragile.
“You should have killed me,” he groaned. “You talk of mercy and yet you do not think! You have never thought! You do what you think are kindnesses without ever considering the consequences! Your mercy has killed me. I have nothing. I am nothing. You have torn the scales from my eyes, but they are too weak, too used to darkness! They cannot bear the light and I am blinded.”

Summary
He saw before him again the image of that accursed brat – a small and scrawny child, the rags he wore barely hanging on him, his head held high, his eyes shining with cheekiness, his mouth full of laughter, his nose covered in freckles. The face of a small, stinking criminal spreading crime in his city like rats spreading plague, a face that could make overly soft-hearted policemen make mistakes.
Javert, as it turned out, was about to make a mistake.
