Kakashi is constantly fighting tooth and nail to be the one to look after Naruto when Minato had died, after the great tailed beast attack. Kakashi, at the ripe age of 14, was going to take in a child. But the Hokage forbade it, telling him '14 is too young. Wait until you're older.' So fine. Kakashi would wait. He'd protect that last of Minato's legacy even if it killed him. Maybe he'd pick up a few more kids on the way.

“I ordered pizza.” Trish said, showing Dante the white box. “Everything on it, except olives. Your favorite.”
There was a hint of surprise and the ghost of a sad smile on the red twin's lips.
“Ha, thanks but… I’m not really hungry right now.” The hunter muttered as he let his eyes close again and shifted slightly, his head coming back to bury itself in his pillow.
“Please, you need to eat something. Anything. Just tell me what you’d like and I’ll go get it for you. Please, Dante.” The demoness begged him, unused to feel so helpless.
“I’m good, thanks. “ Dante murmured and he drifted back to his dreams, running away from real-life.
Trish sat in silence on the bedside, watching with growing desperation as the red twin went back to sleep.
What could you do, when you were trying to save someone that didn’t want to be saved ?

He thought about Vergil. About the shadow his brother had left behind. That gaping, endless hole that no amount of demon-hunting or bourbon could fill. Nero was a piece of Vergil. Maybe the best piece. Something bright and sharp and unfinished. A second chance—not to fix Vergil, not to replace him, but maybe to learn from it. To be better. He could be there for Nero in ways he couldn’t for Vergil, to make sure that Nero never had to be alone the way Vergil evidently was.
