"He's warm," Eris said, faintly surprised, as though this hadn't occurred to him as a possibility. "Warmer than he should be, maybe. Feel."
Just the two of them, and the fire, and something small and warm that smelled, faintly, underneath the leftover scent of birth and herbs, like nothing Cealan had ever smelled on any of his other brothers — something sweeter. Sunlit, almost. He couldn't place it properly yet. He suspected it hadn't finished becoming itself.
"What will we call him," Cealan asked.
"Lucien." Eris said it softly. Light.
Cealan nodded.
Eris shifted the baby slightly, and the small fist found the collar of his shirt and closed around it with a strength that seemed, for a moment, almost defiant, given how little of him there currently was to be defiant with.
"Hello, Lucien," Eris said, quiet, almost formal, like an introduction that mattered. "You've picked a difficult house to be born into."-----

The Night Lord crouches beside the emissary, slow, unhurried. Lucien does not look at him. His gaze remains fixed on the floor, on the dark sheen spreading between the cracks in the stone, as if the pattern there might rearrange itself into something less final.
Rhys catches the fox’s chin between his fingers and wrests it upward. Lucien blinks, and his eyes flash, wet and incandescent, turning his face slightly, trying to wrench free—not from Rhys’s grip, but from the gaze, from the scrutiny.
Rhys shifts his grip from Lucien’s jaw to his shoulder instead, drawing the bloodied fox inward in something that might, at a distance, resemble comfort.

His shadows ripple across the floor, twisting in the sunlight that sifts through the window, catching dust motes like tiny stars in their folds. Lucien hesitates, then holds out a hand. Slowly, almost reverently, the shadows flood toward him, shifting and curling around his fingers, up his arm. Azriel’s gaze traces him, noting the slight tilt of his lips, the way his eyelashes catch the sunlight, the faint flush that lingers on his cheeks.
Azriel smiles, a quiet, fond curl of lips. He lets the shadows drape over the fox, but restrains them to his arms and shoulders.
Lucien wriggles as one delves through his hair, tracing the curve of his ear and lingering there, teasing in its attention. A shiver passes over the emissary, and Azriel notices, quiet satisfaction pricking at the edge of his chest.
“Az”, Lucien hisses, a little breathily. “What…”
He likes the way Lucien says his name like that—soft, unguarded, the sharp edges worn down into something almost sweet. It settles low in his chest, warmer than it should.

Tamlin's eyes flicked down, to where Lucien was watching the exchange in silence. Measuring.
“A favour,” Tamlin said at last, tone edged with smug satisfaction. “One you’ll grant when I call it in.”
No.
Rhys bit the inside of his cheek, grounding himself against the immediate, instinctive rejection. Too open-ended. Too dangerous.
“A favour of equal value,” Rhys corrected smoothly, voice calm, almost bored. “And one I am able to grant.”
Tamlin’s eyes narrowed, the amusement thinning into something sharper. “You really think an Autumn omega is worth that?”
I think he deserves to be.
Even if he isn’t, by your standards.
“I want him,” he said lightly. “That’s enough.” The simplicity of it landed heavier than anything else. Tamlin scoffed, but it lacked some of its earlier certainty. His gaze flicked again—back to Lucien, to the way he sat, to the silence he held, the hazy, druged out fear.
“Fine,” Tamlin said, the word clipped, reluctant, but real. “He's yours."

Summary
Lucien Vanserra had spent his childhood beneath Beron’s hatred. He had fled the court that was supposed to be his home, only to betray the court he had eventually come to call his own. As Lucien begins to unravel, so does the bond inside him. Feelings he has never known begin to surface for a male made of shadows, and a flower that proofs to have delightfully more thorns than expected.
At the center of it all stands Helion Spell-Cleaver who looks at Lucien and sees something no one else ever has and promises to choose him above everyone else, while slowly learning what it means to be a father.
Some truths are buried in memories, others are written in blood and magic, but the sun remembers her children. And Lucien might proof more important for the future of Prythian than his twisted past suggests.

Dean had thought he was nice from the first time the guy fucked him. He wasn’t too rough about it, even though he paid enough that he could be. He touched Dean’s hair when Dean blew him, which made Dean embarrassingly hard.
He doesn’t get a lot of affection, out here on the road, living truckstop to truckstop. It’s why even the hint of it had had Dean gambling, offering his ass up for the next few weeks if the guy agreed to take him along for the ride.
