Summary
He’d taken a bad fall.
He was fine.
He’d be fine. At home. In his own bed. Alone.
But as always, the universe had no problems mocking him when he was down.
Tommy had glanced up when he heard the scuff of boots at the door, his jaw clenching as the move made the nausea churn in his gut at the same time the throbbing ache in his spine pulsed in time with his heartbeat. The same heartbeat that skipped at the sight of him.
“Hey!” Tommy croaked because apparently that was what his voice did now.
Evan looked good.
“Hi,” Evan said, quiet and simple.
Tommy has a near death experience and nothing says healing quite like being taken care of by your ex you never got over.

Summary
Five minutes.
He just wanted five minutes of quiet, he wanted a granola bar, and Buck was still recounting the fire they’d just left.
If Eddie could just give Buck something to think about instead of snapping. If he could give Buck something to think about so his mind became occupied with something else, something that would stop him from talking for just five minutes…
“And did you see that firefighter from the 136?” Buck exclaimed. “She was such a badass when she–”
The bead of sweat trailed down his spine.
“Buck?” Eddie interrupted his so far uninterrupted tangent.
Buck turned to him with a grin. “Yeah, baby?”
“I can’t wait to see what you have planned for our special day tomorrow.” Eddie winked at him.
Buck froze. His hands stopped moving, suspended mid-air. The color drained from his face.
“...tomorrow?” Buck asked.
OR: Eddie just wants a few minutes of silence. He gets it in the worst way possible.

Summary
The bumper caught him hard enough to lift him off of his feet. Pain exploded through his hip.
Buck flew backwards, a wordless scream leaving his mouth at the fire running through his hip and down his leg.
When he landed on solid ground again, flat on his back, the wind was knocked out of his lungs. Sharp pain exploded everywhere.
And then he was rolling.
Rolling.
Rolling.
The world flew past him in fragments as he tumbled down the steep slope towards the ravine.
OR: After dropping the lawsuit, Buck takes up running to escape the silence of his loft. One rainy day changes everything.
