Stiles turned his head ever so slightly more to the side, ignoring how Scott held up his hand to show the splinter wedged in his palm. His eyes cast back to the shadow, and yep, his first instinct was correct. There was definitely someone in the fucking yard with them.

The blonde leaned in, angling his head towards Wolfwood’s neck. He was going to bite him, and Wolfwood would die here, his weapon in his hands, useless. He wanted to screw his eyes shut against the glare of those eyes, but he couldn’t. He thought about praying, but then didn’t see the point.
“I’m really sorry about this.” The voice in his ear was apologetic.
Wolfwood goes out on a Hunter job which takes an unexpected turn and he ends up tangled with the vampire who was supposed to be his target - in more ways than one.

He met the vampire on a Sunday. He stood out, a vivid splash of red and gold brocade against the washed out browns and grays of the city of Octovern in the fall. Nicholas stood on the steps of the Church, a bronze dish meant for alms balanced precariously at the foot of the stone visage of Mary, Mother of God, next to him. Ostensibly, he was meant to be collecting alms from late arrivals. In reality, Nicholas had never been allowed in the Church during one of Master Chapel’s sermons. The old priest had always told Nicholas a creature such as he was far too stupid and far too unnatural to hear the Good Word meant for the faithful congregants.
There were hunters and exorcists inside the Church. This was hardly the place for a vampire.
Nicholas knew many of the hunters of the Eye of Michael that would be sitting in the pews of the building behind him, heads bowed in supplication to their almighty God. They were the type to kill a vampire on sight and worry about making sure he actually had human lifeblood on his fangs later.
Nicholas needed to get him out of here.

Majima's grin broadened. “Nah-ah, Kiryu-chan,” he wiggled his finger. “A guy can't go 'round revealin' his sources. Let's just say a little bird told me 'bout an apartment that the Dojima family had in Sapporo. Decided to check it out. Secured a spot in that cafe on the corner and waited for ya to show up. Honin' my detective skills.”
“So when you saw me coming,” Kiryu said slowly, trying to comprehend. “You climbed up on that roof like a cat and jumped me?”
Majima hee-hee-heed in response. “Ya gotta have that element of surprise in your life, Kiryu-chan. Otherwise, it's just plain borin’!”
Kiryu looked at him incredulously. Rumor had it that Majima was batshit crazy. He was starting to believe it.

Asking Kiryu on a date is supposed to be a joke. It’s just another in Majima’s long list of contrived reasons for Kiryu to get mad enough at him to fight him.
So he’s thrown for a loop when Kiryu doesn’t answer by punching him in the face, but by accepting.
Obviously Kiryu’s playing along, just like he did with the bartender scheme, and with Goromi, and everything else. Majima can work with that. There’s no way he’ll crack before Kiryu does.
Or: Majima commits to the bit so hard he ends up in a long-term relationship.

Bucky doesn’t think about it at all just after coming off the ice and in the wind.
First few weeks after the riverbank, it’s all fight-or-flight, anyway. He’s paranoid as hell, putting too much effort into not snapping necks in panic. Don’t kill, it would draw attention, move, vanish. He still waits for orders that no one’s giving, so get the fuck outta here with that, he’s got bigger problems.
When Steve shows up, as if Bucky can be fixed with some elbow grease, all Bucky feels is a threat, the past coming to collect. He runs, and wants to erase himself the same way Hydra did, doesn’t want to be found, fixed, saved, and the last thing on his mind is someone he’s never actually met.
He doesn’t notice it in Schkeuditz.
Tether is most common when folk talk about it, soulmates when they preach abstinence in church. But it’s a distance thing. Eight feet, three inches. Doesn’t sound like fate to Bucky. Sounds like math.
