Obviously you abscond with the doppelganger in the dead of night, but every action has consequences.
My first KLENA/KLAULENA storyIt has been a year since the sacrifice. Klaus and Elena came to an agreement that she would live a protected human life in exchange for her blood. Tensions are rising though because of his hybrids. The Salvatores do not want Elena to be under Klaus' thumb, and they want the hybrids gone. Elena has broken up with Stefan in this story, and she and Damon were never a thing. There is no Hayley story line. Esther never woke up and the Originals kind of broke apart after being roused from slumber. I'm planning on bringing in the other Originals at some point.

Summary
An AU of Bonnie and Damon in the Prison World, without Kai, but with a problematic blood shortage that leads to our favourite judgy witch and snarky vampire getting closer than anyone anticipated. Lots of fun and cathartic Bonnie/Damon moments, leading to some very raunchy sex (Fair warning: There are several chapters of nothing but), some fitting angst, and a future noone saw coming.
(NB: When I write long fics, I post the whole thing at once, as I go back and edit a lot as I write, so this fic is complete)

Damon and Elijah are both too late; Elena is taken to Klaus just like she wanted, one month before the next full moon, and one month before he’s going to kill her. It’s a dangerous game she has to play, and Elena knows better than to think she could win it; all she can do is whatever it takes to maybe, just maybe, not lose.

Summary
When Damon became a vampire, Emily gave him two amulets. One for him and one for the love of his life. They would allow them to be reborn into human lives anytime they died with their memories intact. When the worst happened in the Augustine fire, Damon gave his second to Enzo before dying with him. He would have to wait a while for Enzo to follow and start their new lives though.
