“Do you think me so cruel that I would make you get rid of the child?” A genuine look of hurt flashes across his face, his blue eyes studying him intently.
Perhaps he was wrong.
“No, Robert.” He feels a surge of hope. Perhaps he will show Jon the mercy he denied his siblings, now that he has calmed down. “I thought it best not to tempt fate.” He grabs him by the forearm. “I can still take him to the North. Nobody has to know the truth. He won’t either. He will be no threat to you or your rule. I will make sure of that.”
Robert chuckles. “It was already too late for that the moment you crossed the city gates. Before nightfall, every beggar and whore will know the truth, or some twisted version of it.” He glances towards the cradle. “Jon. I don’t like this name. My son should have a proper Baratheon name, but since you took it upon yourself to name him as such, I have no choice but to accept that.”
Ned freezes. “Your son?”

They use their strength and cunning to serve me, even when it does not benefit them.” Shang Qinghua can only watch, flabbergasted, as something in Mobei-Jun’s eyes seems to soften. “And I enjoy their company.” Well, there goes everyone on Shang Qinghua’s list. He’s never seen Mobei-Jun enjoy anyone’s company! “They talk a lot,” Mobei-Jun muses, “and they think I don’t listen. But I do. I like listening to them.”
It takes everything in Shang Qinghua not to have his mouth fully drop open. That’s the most Mobei-Jun has said at once! Ever! He would know, he wrote the damn novel! Seriously, isn’t this way too out-of-character?
And worst of all, Shang Qinghua isn’t any closer to figuring out who Mobei-Jun is going to marry in two weeks time. In fact, he thinks he might have even less idea now than he did to begin with. Privately, he’d always thought this was a marriage of convenience—but Mobei-Jun’s expression, that almost fondness in his voice—

Summary
Follo blinks awake, glaring at the crack in the curtain for disturbing him. With a sigh, he throws an arm over his eyes knowing good and well he won’t be able to fall back asleep. When he shifts, his body aches. Not quite a stiffness from sleep that just needs to be stretched away, he removes his arm and looks down, shocked by what he sees. He is covered in marks, little scratches and bruises along his pelvis and thighs, he spots a few along his chest and balks.
