Summary
Before she can stop herself, Trinity is reaching for Baran’s arm, holding her wrist with a desperation that makes her grip tight. Her eyes pierce through Baran and the woman almost flinches at the distress she sees in the pale green depths.
“Can I trust you?” Trinity's voice wavers and Baran searches her eyes, seeing the despair of someone who has never known who she can rely on. She knows the look well; it has stared back at her from the mirror many times.
“I'd like to think so,” she says in a steady voice. Trinity’s hand is slightly sweaty and very warm, and she can feel a current of anxiety running under the woman’s skin but she doesn't move.
A pause, then in the same steady voice, "I trust you.”

Summary
One year. The Cullens leaving Bella to her 'human life' had only bought her one year of life, because she was staring at red eyes and there wasn't a way out of this alley alive. This is what trying to keep living had gotten her. Bella was fully awake, and suddenly not so ready to die, and it was too late.
Daisy was just eating a creep from a bar when the single weirdest human reaction to a vampire stumbled into her, and curiosity probably isn't going to kill her now that she's immortal. The Kings would even want her to look into the human who knows that vampires are real. Plausible cause to stick around and stick her nose into things. Even if 'things' is the most exasperating series of stupid decisions every supernatural entity in the region has made in the last year surrounding the existence of one human girl.
Or when faced with a red eyed vampire finishing a feed, Bella Swan chooses something other than fight, flight, or freeze in the face of her likely impending death.
