Summary
Wilbur was anything other than an ordinary man. He was what was called a doppelgänger. The only thing that was truly his was his name. Wilbur. That was his only belonging.
He had no real face. No real body. But he had his own mind and name.
So, when he found a dead man settled in an alley, he took the opportunity to make that face his own. He liked it, it looked nice, suited him well. He now had brunet curls and brown eyes. He was tall, a lot taller than he originally thought from just looking at the slumped over man.
But it was good. This felt good.
That was until a little boy grabbed onto his coat. He was blond with shimmering blue eyes. His lip was jutted out, and he looked so sad.
“Daddy? Is that really you?”
Or, Wilbur may not be the dad, but he is the dad that STEPPED UP!

They give the humans whatever they desired, the humans completed various tasks for them, and then they went their separate ways.
And if the humans failed to complete their half? Well, it was right there in the contract!
They would be their next meal!
Why act so shocked and scared when they came to collect? They knew the risks. They knew the consequences of failure and yet shook their hands anyway.
Really, it was quite frustrating. No matter, they had a meal waiting for them now. Begging would do nothing to appease their appetite.
“Mommy? Daddy?”
The room froze, everything going silent.
Or, Phil and Techno find a child and remember their lonely friend, Wilbur. The boy doesn't have proper parents, anyway. Why not kill two birds with one stone?
Or or, Tommy gets (consensually) adopted by a cryptid in a backrooms(ish) au!

"We have to leave," Wilbur pulled at Tommy's hand. "We have to leave now." Tommy didn't budge.
"What's going to happen to us?" He whispered, staring at at the pale light on the pavement.
Wilbur couldn't answer. They couldn't go back to the group home, they would give them new placements, separate them, and then Wilbur would never see Tommy again. They couldn't go back home, Wilbur still heard the screaming from the open window.
"We'll figure something out, I promise."
Or: Wilbur and Tommy run away from another foster home. Techno and Phil are roommates who just so happen to catch them stealing from their trash.
