Shoto started to create an ice path down the side of the sheer expanse while Hawks hovered just above and behind him, ready to catch him if need be. The mountain was the last one on the intelligence checklist said to contain a villain hideout, but they hadn't found anything.
It wasn’t strictly necessary for Hawks to hover except that on their second day of the mission Shoto had dived off a jagged cliff on a whim preoccupied with an idea he wanted to try with his ice. The gasp and chuckled, 'Woah! Hey there! You good?' in his ear, the hand between his shoulder blades, as Shoto straightened himself from his successful experiment, had come as a pleasant surprise. The irresistible desire to 'practice' over the next few days continued, just to keep him near.Or: Slow burny, fluffy, angsty, spicy, getting together ShotoHawks fic!
