A few months before the events of The Undiscovered Country, Jim's mom passes away. Things get worse before they get better, and Spock and Jim break up. Now, Jim wants to reconcile, but something seems to be holding Spock back.

Summary
McCoy and Spock have crash landed on an alien planet inhabited by a Vulcan-like society. The society has a rigid caste system of nobles and servants, and to survive long enough to get back to the Enterprise, Spock and McCoy play the parts. Spock plays the noble, and McCoy his dutiful servant.
One little problem.
It’s a societal norm on this planet for the nobles to use their servants for their own sexual satisfaction.

Helena rolls her eyes, but she's smiling. "That's not really how wormholes work Len," she says, "besides, they're wildly unpredictable. With a warp engine you can decide where you wanna go, with a wormhole you're at the mercy of space. You have no control."
"Oh," Leonard looks up at his sister with wide eyes, "that sounds scary."
"Nah." Helena ruffles his hair. "Not scary; exciting."
