Lena Luthor was not someone easily distracted, but she was someone on a long journey of self-discovery and self-love, and one or both of those values included Lena letting herself have the good things she wanted. The world somehow stayed the same and yet everything changed so fast. The only one she could turn to for answers was her mysterious neighbor, but the questions Laura has about Carmilla are just as complicated as her own.

“You have to get yourself disqualified,” Alex says.
Kara frowns. “What about my civic duty?”
Her sister ignores her. She’s on her phone, already finding her an out. “Your occupation should qualify you for an exemption,” she discovers. “It says here, if you’re full-time military, or a firefighter, or a cop—”
Kara holds the letter up for Alex to read. “They didn’t summon Supergirl,” she says. “They summoned Kara Danvers, freelance food critic and full-time reporter.”
