Summary
Zuko realizes his destiny much earlier. As in, as soon as he wakes up in the palace after his Agni Kai and is told he is banished. Unfortunately, he's never been a patient one. So he storms right up to Ozai and tells him what he's going to do. And gets locked up for over three years. Then, one day, he's being pulled out and told he's the new Fire Lord.
A "Zuko never meets the Gaang and suddenly becomes Fire Lord after three years of literal torture" AU. In which the Gaang doesn't know what to think of the new Fire Lord who happens to be the missing nephew of Aang's firebending teacher, Iroh constantly has a headache, and, sure, maybe the world hates the Fire Nation, but the Fire Nation LOVES Zuko, and he can work with that.

AN IMPORTANT CAVEAT ON TAGGING:
I generally tag large ensemble fics in this series with the slash pairing of all 8 members (this is equivalent to ATEEZ ensemble/ATEEZ ensemble, but I just want to make sure my bases are covered). In the aforementioned large ensemble fics, I generally write/perceive the members as being in an OT8 romantic relationship with one another (that's 28 active relationships woven into one big OT8 tapestry, if anyone is counting).
In the context of the stories with the ensemble tags, they are all definitely in love with each other and see each other as partners (in "crime" and in life). Physical affection/overt romantic actions are seen as a garnish to the story, rather than the main point, unless "Romance" is specifically tagged. “Most people don’t plan on coming here,” Seokjin replies, eyes boring into Jungkook’s. “Why don’t you keep it anyway,” he shrugs. “Consider it a thank you for being a regular customer.”
“A regular?” Jungkook asks, swaying forward a little wearily. “I told you, this is my first time here?” The words come out as a question, feeling less and less sure of himself.
