Summary
Squeezing his eyes shut tightly for a moment, Dennis tries to keep his mind from going where it always goes. To that first day. That first loss.
He never can stop the drift.
For just a moment, he is an intern performing CPR on Bennet Milton. Just a moment.
Opening his eyes, Dennis finds himself back in the present, and the patient is coding. Another push of epi. It's not working.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Dennis feels the failure churning within him even before Robby calls it. He's sweating and his arms feel as though they might give out. If he could, he would continue through the exhaustion. He would ignore the call.
He would once again be that intern who wouldn't stop and would spend far too long trying to breathe life into a body that had already met it's creator.

Two men are brought in after a fall at a construction sight, both with unknown identities. Dennis knows one of them. He's a man he hasn't seen in well over a decade and has a scar that he knows the story of all too well.

Summary
The faded cross hung from his neck as a consistent, dull reminder. A reminder of what exactly, he tried not to think about. Though the symbol didn't mean so much to him now as it did in his youth, Dennis couldn't help but reach for it subconsciously. It was something he found comfort in, though he didn't know why.
Comfort did not surround his past. It didn't even support his present. All he could hope was that it would at least be on the sidelines for his future.

Shane clears his throat before asking softly, “Have you ever been in love?”
A ghost of a smile tugs at the corner of Ilya’s lips before his gaze drops down to his hands folded in front of him. The smile Shane is staring at twists ever so slightly when Ilya breathes out a quiet, “Yes.”
Shane swears he can hear his heart skip a beat, the drumming in his ears deafening the world around him. All he can hear, all he wants to hear, is Ilya’s voice that has gone all too quiet.

Summary
It's the first winter after Pitch's defeat. Jack is happy, he's not alone anymore, and his memories are gradually returning. But when a treasure hunt gone wrong puts Jack and Jamie in danger, flinging them through time and space, they find themselves on an island neither of them have heard of before. Jack's first priority is to get Jamie home safe, but Berk's inhabitants - human and otherwise - are certainly not making it easy.
Knowing they will leave Berk and the Vikings behind as soon as they know how to, Jack is not going to risk the pain of growing close to any of these people (or dragons, for that matter). But Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, wearing his heart on his sleeve, doesn't seem to want to take the hint.

Peter Parker knows that Tony Stark is his father. He knows and hates him for it. With nowhere left to go, Peter goes to Stark Tower to inform Mr. Stark that he’s Peter’s father but is thrown out of the tower by security without seeing Tony. Peter Parker needs help. Who is this kid that showed up at the tower? Tony needs answers. What does he know about raising a kid? How the hell is he supposed to help a son he just discovered he had sort through trauma when Tony’s been stuffing his own stress and trauma down for years? Tony knows one thing for certain: he doesn’t want Peter to grow up to be like him… to stuff all of the crap he’s been through down and end up pushing everyone around him away. Well shit… that means Tony will have to lead by example.
