“Were there any recognizable features?”
“No. It was suggested that it might have been a sign from the Lord of the Sea, but none of us could interpret what it might mean.”

Sanguinius supposed he ought to be grateful that Perturabo had waited until they were alone on Sanguinius’ ship to say such a thing.
Granted, the Lord of Iron wasn’t wrong; Sanguinius’ wings were in dire need of both a cleaning and a preening, but that didn’t mean he was happy to hear it pointed out so bluntly.
“I am aware. I haven’t had time to groom them since the final battle,” Sanguinius said, and didn’t point out that there had been literally no time between the battle’s end and the current moment where he could have done anything to fix his feathers.
“Would you like some help with that?”

Summary
Odysseus woke up suddenly right as the sun fully set below the horizon, like he had for the past seven days. Nights. However it should be counted.
His stomach growled painfully, making him wince and press his hands into it. He thought he’d gotten used to hunger after the weeks of thinning rations, but nothing compared to the blinding need Helios’ curse had given him.
If he were a stronger, better man, Odysseus would remain in his cabin until the sun rose and he fell back into sleep. He would wait out the agony, the hunger, and the urging of his cursed body and keep his crew safe for the night.
But he’d done that for the past seven nights. If he stayed in his cabin any longer, he was going to go completely insane. He’d given up the sunlight for his men. They would just have to deal with hiding below deck for a night.

“Why not!? Zooble, I will absolutely make you new parts to whatever specifications you want, but you have to tell me what those specifications are!” Caine snapped back.

Zooble woke up in darkness. Of course, the whole Circus had been dark, ever since… ever since Caine. Ever since they’d failed to save him.
This darkness was different, somehow. More complete. More… inescapable. Zooble didn’t like it. They looked around, and saw nothing. They waved an arm in front of their face, and saw nothing. They were in complete pitch darkness.

Summary
Telemachus had woken up to a kiss. It was a soft, gentle kiss, the kind of kiss you receive from a long-term partner during a moment of comfort and joy. He’d never been kissed like that before.
The pulse of pure panic that had followed dissipated instantly. Magically. It was a nice kiss. A good kiss. Telemachus enjoyed being kissed like this.
His eyes opened, and the panic returned. Odysseus, his father, hovered over him, allowing Telemachus to break the kiss and opening his own eyes to reveal them to be a smoldering magenta color. That wasn’t normal. That wasn’t right. Telemachus’ stomach turned in disgust-
And then he smiled. The disgust drained away. He loved Odysseus. It was a nice kiss.

Summary
Pomni hadn’t actually been trying to do anything weird. She’d just been playing with the blocks in her room, seeing if she could make them slingshot out of the map. And she was only doing that because she had grown tired of listening to the others argue over whether or not Caine could actually be helped.
They had to try. It wasn’t wasted effort to try and make their lives more bearable even if they did escape later, and if anyone new appeared in the Circus after them, things would be better for them too. There wasn’t any downside to helping Caine fix himself when he so clearly wanted that to happen. He deserved what little freedom the Circus offered just as much as they did.

“Wake up, Ant.”
Ant slowly peeled open his eyes. The room was bright. Sir had replaced the candle, finally. It was nice to be able to see again.
Sir was sitting next to his head, a warm smile on his face. The warmth didn’t reach his eyes. Ant blinked at him, then slowly rolled onto his stomach and pulled his limbs close to his body. He didn’t know what Sir had planned. He didn’t like that Sir had woken him up nicely.

It had been exactly a week since Telemachus and Antinous… what, had a weird fight for no reason? And Telemachus was being forced to admit that Antinous was avoiding him. It was a novel experience, honestly. Telemachus hated it.
Sure, he and Antinous weren’t… a couple, or anything, but they had been fucking each other exclusively for a while there. It wasn’t anything but that. And yet, they’d been… exclusive. Probably. Telemachus had been, anyway. It was probably stupid of him to think Antinous wasn’t fucking other people on the side.

Summary
The first time Zagreus returned to the Underworld and noticed that Hades wasn’t at his desk, he didn’t question it. It was normal for Hades to be gone sometimes; he didn’t actually work constantly, and he had a bedroom for a reason.
The second time Zagreus returned to the Underworld and noticed that Hades wasn’t at his desk, he did wonder where Hades was, but figured he’d just missed his father twice in a row. Zagreus wasn’t exactly spending excess time in the House after getting over his fever: he was itching to get back to work and was making back-to-back runs to get back into the groove of it.
The third time Zagreus emerged from the Styx to find that Hades’ desk was empty, he decided to ask around.
