“Me too,” Naim whispered back immediately, as if he had been keeping the words in his mouth for hours. “It’s all I’ve wanted for weeks.”
“I wanna play fight,” Ryan whispered next.

“You know what, Naim?” he says. “You’re fucking insane, mate. You have some serious issues. See you fuckin’ never.” He shoulder checks Ryan on his way out, his reddened neck betraying his embarrassment. Naim doesn’t even have the capacity to pity him, because—
Because fucking Ryan is here, standing two meters away on the smoking patio of a gay club in downtown, staring at Naim with ten times more of everything than it ever would, which means he has to be real. The blond rubs his offending knuckles as soon as the other guy is gone, and the ghost of a smirk plays at his lips as he says:
“Happy Birthday, by the way.”
Naim doesn’t know if he wants to kiss him, or kill him.
(Or: One year after leaving Bandee, Naim and Ryan break up. Another year after that, they find their way back together again.)
