It only took her a few seconds to realize that the goth girl with the twin braids behind the counter was going to be a massive problem.
Almost as if a brick wall had manifested directly in front of her, she slammed on her metaphorical brakes, her whole body locking up as the pair of friends on either side of her were pulled back abruptly. Yoko frowned at the pause in movement and gazed back down at her, “Come on, pup, we have to at least get past the first ten feet.”
Enid was too busy trying not to gape like a fish to bother responding to the vampire’s teasing. Wide blue eyes scanned over the girl in the distance, noting how soft her hair looked under the lights overhead and how pretty her half-hidden face was behind the thick book she was reading. The girl’s eyes read the pages in front of her with interest as she chewed on her bottom lip, making Enid’s heart skip several beats in her chest.
