Summary
He slowly approaches the viewing window, afraid to move too quickly and startle whatever lurks on the other side. The acrylic curves with the wall, bowing away from him. Nearly imperceptible particles drift in the water, reminding Grace of marine snow. He gets the sudden, wild urge to press his palm flat against the barrier.
Before he gets the chance, something disturbs the water. It’s fast, only giving Grace a moment to take it in before it disappears. Pointed spines punctuate a long, snaking body. A flash of red as the artificial lights reflect off something, like a cat’s eyeshine in the dark.
Dr. Ryland Grace was a marine biologist and expert in jawless fish genetics before leaving academia to become a middle school biology teacher. When a woman named Eva Stratt calls on him to help with classified research, he is flown to Russia to study a creature that seems to defy the laws of science. A creature that seems strangely human...

"If you blow up, you take the whole of Spring Station with you. I'm not going to wait around to find out that you got bored and did something stupid."
Grace shoves both of his hands into his hair and groans at the ceiling.
"I don't need a babysitter," he grits out, dropping his hands. "No offense - actually, full offense - I'm sick of you."
"Then hurry up and fix it if you want me gone," Simon retorts, his jaw ticking."I don't know how."
Simon, who's clearly lost his patience, leans forward and hisses, "Then we're obviously fucking stuck with each other."

Summary
During a drunken karaoke night back in 2008, Ryland Grace had been filmed via an old camcorder, warning his colleagues that, 'If you are tapped for talent by Eva Stratt, its the end of the world so you'd better knock back!'
Eva isn't exactly sure what to do with this information, but five of the scientists she has talked to this week have referenced being at this karaoke party.

Summary
Grace is not crazy. Aliens are real and he can prove it.
Well, not now. Obviously. But he can prove it later, when aliens begin the end of the world by eating the sun.
His colleagues could be right; this clairvoyant delusion might be a brain tumor or the slow neutral death of his wasting potential. So, he exists through the mundanity of life as a middle school teacher, and in his spare time he passionately compiles an accurate detail of Earth's demise into his silly little online indie novel. He buries the fear of his collapsing sanity in the depths of chapters, shaking through visions of a reality that he can never allow to exist. He is un-remarkable. Invisible.
Until NASA publishes Irina Petrova's discovery of the Petrova line and details the mathematical certainty of Earth's death. The world is plunged into crisis and suddenly, Grace's small slice of internet morphs from a silly little sci-fi novel to a prophetic guideline.
