    Summary

“Oh? You’re inviting me?” Phainon grins as they start walking, falling into step beside him. “Gotta say, I love this new proactive Mydei.”

He’s almost vibrating in delight as he nudges him with his elbow and says “Finally realized how important I am in your life, huh?”

Mydei feels his lips turn down in a frown. “Shut up.”
Contrary to popular belief, Mydei knows how to take a joke. But Phainon doesn’t realize how close he is to hitting the bullseye when he says this to him. Of course, Mydei has plenty of people important to him, he would die for any of them but Phainon is… he’s special.

Since his return from the holy grail war, Phainon has been full of praise for the warriors beyond the stars. Mydei is adamant he can keep up, but lately, it seems like he isn’t enough, and another half-naked showoff has captured Phainon’s attention.

Sensing his troubles, the trailblazer offers to take Mydei out on a short trip aboard the Astral Express to broaden his horizons and improve his fighting skills. Mydei is delighted by the prospect, but, hold on… isn’t there a third person they forgot to ask for permission?

Eternal Recurrence #3,400,236 concluded as all that came before, and as all would come after. And yet, there remains a shimmering memory of it, something that stands out in that broken brain of his.

    “You're crying.”

Khaslana lifts his tired gaze from their hands, blinks against the salty vapors rising from where his waterline glimmers.

    “I am.”

Mydei is cupping his face, holding him gently by the jaw, and Khaslana barely feels it.

    “You're breaking.”

“Yeah.” It's hollow, his voice. Numb. “I know.”

    ____

Khaslana's long, long journey toward true daybreak, and all those shimmering, bloodstained memories collected along the way.

    Summary

I lived with this hunger long before the Hail Mary. This is nothing new. I’m fine.

Right up until Rocky asks another question.

“When last time you touch other human person skin, question?”

Oh. Oh no. “When I… a few days after I first woke up here.”

Rocky starts to relax for a split second, but then tightens when something occurs to him.

“Grace crewmates dead when you wake up. You said this, statement. You not even know your own name, remember nothing, see dead bodies, confirm?”

I nod, because if I open my mouth I will gag.

“When last time Grace touch ALIVE human person, question.”

I swallow thickly. I don’t answer aloud because I know Rocky can hear the hitch in my breath. My stomach churns with fresh bile. He senses my vital signs tick over into stress patterns and goes very, very still again.

    “Grace. When last time, question.”

I clench my jaw so hard my temples ache, and beg him with my eyes to just stop.

“Grace. Please say not when… when Evil Stratt humans put you to sleep.”

    I can taste grass.

    Summary

    “You bought art supplies.”
    “Yes.” A beat. “Very observant.”
Blade looked at the bundle. Then at Dan Heng.
Dan Heng refused to meet his eyes with enough determination that it immediately became suspicious.
“They seemed useful,” he said, far too casually. “I’ve been meaning to.”
The tips of his ears were pink, very slightly.
    Barely noticeable. Blade noticed immediately.

    -

Blade takes a stroll through Planarcadia's morning market, confronted with all different kinds of craftsmanship he remembers his past in painful detail. Dan Heng notices and decides to buy some Art supplies. For no reason at all, of course.
