After the fuckery, Stede asks Ed if he would like to be held.
"I don't know about you, but when I've had an especially trying day, particularly if I've shed a tear or two, I always wish that... that someone would hold me. I don't suppose that's the sort of thing that many people offer to the fearless and deadly pirate Blackbeard, but it's definitely something I would be happy to offer my friend Edward. If that's something you'd like," he finished hesitantly.
If that was something he'd like? Fuck, it was an effort not to just immediately cross the room and throw his arms around Stede instead of answering, except that at the same time he was frozen in place, staring at Stede with his mouth hanging open. No, no one had ever offered to hold Blackbeard. Blackbeard wasn't supposed to want things like that, because Blackbeard didn't have feelings. (Not soft, vulnerable ones, anyway.) And no one gave much thought to what Ed wanted at all. (Ed wanted to be held.)
