Summary
Loki groans, soft yet sorrowed. Why is the TV so loud? He flips over toward Mobius, burying his face in his chest, but the constant barking of sea lions is starting to drive him witless. Before he can ask, Mobius already has it muted. A weathered set of knuckles rests against his cheek. Come their eventual departure, Loki can’t help the whine, his throat beginning to tighten.
“We’ll get you through this,” Mobius whispers.

OR: In his retirement with Mobius, Loki develops a new assortment of bodily aches. Mobius sticks with him through the worst.

Summary
“You’re the one who runs off and picks fights. Trust is a two-person job.”
Loki readies to speak, halted promptly by the buckling of his knees. With a swear, Mobius darts out to catch him, but only succeeds in slamming his hand against the wall, the space where Loki once was decidedly empty. He looks down. Whoops.
“You okay?” Mobius asks, tentatively.
“Fine,” Loki groans from his heap on the ground. He drags himself against the wall. “You will never speak of this again.”

OR: Loki turns up missing in the TVA. As his responsibility, Mobius is forced to find him, but Loki's sudden decline in health becomes a bigger issue.

Summary
Val heaves with a laugh and Loki welcomes his own. Ecstasy drowns them. It feels picturesque. His mind conjures a world wherein the amulet never leaves his neck, until it fuses into his skin, into his soul, sinking deeper and deeper until he and it are inextricable to a molecular level. Midday warms his face, snowmelt trickling, as Val speaks her well-wishes and eventual goodbye.
Loki waves her off and prances cheerfully down the street, stopped several times along the way by a bustle of, “I love your necklace!” and, “Wow, that’s a big emerald,” and, “Where’d you buy that?” and the occasional cry of, “Never take it off!” It feels as if reliving his olden days as King, wearing Odin’s face and serviced as pleased, worshiped not as a prince but as Allfather. It’s intoxicating.

OR: Loki's new amulet enthralls unlikely attention. He will regret, deeply, ever putting it on.

“Not a single Asgardian has died to a bear in one hundred years. I broke every rule that curbs this statistic. They would label my death a tragedy, but I’d be no less of a fool.”
“You haven’t died, though.”
“Not yet.”

Summary
One of the dining room chairs scrape linoleum, creaking under Loki’s sudden weight. A rhythmic tapping against wood ensues. “I don’t need medicine,” Loki says. “Haven’t I made it clear enough? I told you I’m not sick, and you said you believed me. We’re beyond our days of betrayal.”
Yeah, right. Mobius turns to look at him and double-takes. In the harsh kitchen lights, his skin almost glows from the pallor. Terrible was an understatement. He looks ghoulish.
“What? You’re staring again,” Loki says.
Mobius bites the inside of his cheek. “Are you sure you’re feeling alright?”

OR: Upon discovering that Loki is hiding an illness, Mobius decides to grant him space. That is, until his guise is forcibly ripped—but there is more than sickness beneath.

Abaddon isn’t a demon, he’s a child raised in a cult and told his whole life that someday he would reach his true potential and his real form. He was rescued from the cult, but he’s been hospitalized ever since with severe PTSD and religious psychosis. No one has been able to get through to him yet, but Katherine has just been assigned to him as his new trauma therapist, and there might be hope for him after all.
Inspired by Forgan’s mental hospital AU and written with permission.
