Summary
“Il…Ilya,” Shane slurred out, his hand fumbling around awkwardly for his phone.
Hayden sort of bristled at that. “I’m here.”
Which was stupid, probably. If Hayden was sick he’d want Jackie. But Rozanov was … well, an asshole. There was no way Rozanov would be for Shane what Jackie was for Hayden. Shane needed someone to take care of him, someone who cared about him, not someone to tell him that he’s boring and whatever shit Rozanov insulted him with.

Am I trying to fix canon Hayden again? Why yes, yes I am. Am I doing it by giving Shane the flu and forcing Hayden to witness how much Shane & Ilya love each other up close? ... Also yes. Did I bang this out in one sitting while I should be working on my other WIPs? No comment.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov has dreamed about the same strangers his whole life: a chapel, a battlefield, a frozen river, a boxing ring, a sheet of ice. When he's eighteen, a serious, dark-haired boy walks late into a conference room, and Ilya hears himself say three words in Russian he doesn't understand.
Вот ты где. There you are.
He has said them before, in a war camp, on a mountain pass, at a weigh-in and in an Olympic village. In every lifetime the world puts him and Shane Hollander on opposite sides, and in every lifetime Ilya finds him first. Shane never remembers.
Four hundred years, six lives, one promise. Maybe this time they'll get to keep it.
