Summary
Roughly 150 years into his enslavement under Cazador, Astarion is sent to seduce and deliver a wealthy, reclusive “noble” newly arrived in Baldur’s Gate. The man introduces himself as Raphael and, without the slightest hesitation, informs the elf that he is a devil. Astarion finds the claim hysterically unconvincing and decides it must be an elaborate, slightly pretentious kink.

“If you were to ask me, that spitfire temper of yours is worth more than two gold,” Raphael hums, eyes low as they drag against his face. There’s enough innuendo on that fake face of Raphael’s to put the finest whore at Sharess’ Caress to shame.
“Is that so?” he asks, squints. “Excuse me if I’m a little skeptical, darling. It’s rather hard to put much weight into the opinion of a demon, you see.”
“Oh, don’t be so harsh,” Raphael says, tilting his head. “I’ll have you know that I am so much more than those filthy, savage worms that crawl around in the Abyss.”
“Ah, how idiotic of me. Devils, demons, yes, I see the difference now, thank you,” he says, jabbing his finger as hard as he can into Raphael’s... unusually firm forearm. Ridiculous. Devils don’t need defined muscles. “Which brings me the question I am cursed to ask you each and every time you find your way to this carnival, and more importantly, to my booth. Why. Are. You. Here?”
Even in a city as horrid as Baldur’s Gate, it’s a lovely night for a carnival.

Astarion thought he was manipulating Tav with his clever seduction game. He's certain he's never made a bigger miscalculation when he finds himself imprisoned at the House of Hope.
Gale and Wyll thought they knew Tav. Their judgment of character was severely lacking. It's not fondness for the vampire that sends them questing to find him at peril of their own lives. More like... moral loose ends.
