John reached over, covering his friend’s hand with his own. “You know, Macca, it’s only been what, a year and a little? Maybe it’s okay that you ain’t over her passin’. Pretty sure it’s gonna take longer than that for me.” He moved his hand away. “And you’re wrong. You’re a good friend.” He tamped out his ciggie and looked away. “You’re me best mate, and I thank ya.” And then more softly, “You might be everything, now.”

Paul liked the idea of telling John he belonged somewhere, and more importantly, that he belonged to someone. "With ME", Paul had thought. "You belong where I am, because you belong to ME, and you need to know it, finally.”
This story is VERY romantic. Paul finds the perfect birthday present for John (NOT a hamburger) and presents it to him on their last night in Paris.

He wants to wrap himself around Mac like a python buries its prey in its inescapable, deadly embrace. With his chest against Mac’s back and his face against his nape, he wants to press closer and closer until he can sink his claws into his very bones and seep his poison into his veins and Mac can never, ever walk away from him without tearing himself apart in the process. He wants to stay like this until they both die.
Mac lets out a pleased, half-asleep hum and lovingly puts his own hands on Dennis’ fists that are grasping the front of his old T-shirt so vehemently they’re almost shaking.
