Nesta hated the Cassian of two years ago—loathed his attitude, the way his hair fell to his shoulders, his stupid finance job, the exact shade of bronze that matched the tan of his skin, the ease at which he could turn a room in his favor, the way he let Rhysand walk all over him. It was always fun sparring with him though—even when they didn’t get along—his wit matched hers, even if it left her feeling a bit murderous afterwards. Irritation lead to shooting-the-shit, lead to Rhysand and Feyre leaving them alone together on a night out (as those two went God-only-knows-where to bang), lead to a weird, misplaced (yet strangely fulfilling) friendship.
