It shouldn't come as a surprise that when invoking The Red King, a winter worse than anyone has ever seen will follow. Yet here Martyn is trading gold for silk then silk for blankets, wondering if there's more to life to being a weapon. Sure he had somewhat of a plan for this, after all what sort of winter spirit wouldn't? Not him. Yet the cold still invades Dogwart, slipping through every nook and cranny. Though every window and spilling through every door opened.
Most are dealing with it the best they can, yet one hides from the cold, unsure if it's due to being Red or being the Red King. It's anyone's guess. Perhaps even a combination of both.

Quietly, in the dead of night, long past lights out, there was a knock on Cherri’ and Shulk door. Well, it would be their shared dorm, except Shulk never came home. The last time she’s seen them was the mess with the headmaster.
Still, while Cherri goes to see who it is at her door, she tries not to get her hopes up. It’s probably not Shulk. He’s probably just rooming with that Magic kid. She vaguely remembers something about along those lines.
Standing on the other side is Nuke, awkwardly holding his hat in his hands with a backpack stuffed full of fabric. Nuke, Cherri’s only remaining friend. The one dude who doesn’t hate her in this hellhole of a school.

“Am I just a cat to you?” Ilya asks, and Shane knows his response matters. He knows there's a right and wrong answer here. He just doesn’t know what they are.
“No- I mean,” Shane sighs, reaching out tentatively to place his hand on Ilya’s nape, ready to pull him in and comfort him now that he recognizes the visible upset in his voice. “You’re not just a cat… you’re my cat, right? I take care of you. Always.”
Ilya pulls away from Shane's petting hands, swatting at Shane's attempts to pull him back. Ilya turns his back, ignoring Shane’s calls for him to stay, to talk to him. Shane follows him into the bedroom, watches him pull on a pair of sweats and a hoodie, ignoring his attempts to get Ilya to sit and listen.
Then Shane follows him to the hotel door. “Don't,” Shane warns when Ilya reaches for the doorknob. “I mean it. We have an early flight. If you aren’t ready to talk, we can wait till we get back to Montreal.”
“I am not a pet, Shane,” Ilya mutters before opening the door and walking out.
Or/ Shane Hollander's childhood cat, Ilya, can turn into a human at will. He makes it his duty to protect him, but Ilya wants more than to be just a pet. He wants Shane to love him back.

Rocky lived his happily ever after with Grace and Adrian. Until he died. And then woke up a week before the Blip A was meant to launch. He makes a few last minute changes.
Eva Stratt is not having a good day. It was hard enough dealing with the aliens trying to eat her sun. Now she has to deal with the other aliens that know much more about her and Earth than she's comfortable with. And they also claim to have the answer to the Astrophage problem, provided she's willing to hand Ryland Grace to them.
Grace wishes he could stop getting 'promoted' with no option to say no. At least his new job has better hours, if you could ignore the whole being stuck in space on an alien vessel thing.

He’s in the hospital on the verge of death, suppressed memories of a religion he barely remembers are filling him with guilt, Adrian refuses to see him as a person, and he’s just not seeing a good future ahead. But Rocky wants him alive, and who is Grace to refuse him? And as a biologist, who is Grace to refuse to be the perfect specimen for Adrian?
Or, Grace is depressed, Adrian is trying to pretend he’s not a person, and Rocky’s about to solve the problem by fucking. Most of this is going to be neither OSHA approved nor ethical by any stretch of the imagination.

Grace is too late rescuing Rocky. When he finds the Blip-A again, Rocky is already gone, so Grace does the only thing he can think of, and he takes Taumeoba-82.5 to Erid himself. If he can't save Rocky, well, he might as well make sure his death wasn't in vain.
He's sick, starving, and has no Eridian native to introduce him, but he's going to save Rocky's planet no matter what. After that... he supposes all that's left is for him to die. He's nearly out of food and Yao's gun is still tucked away safely in the Hail Mary's storage.
