Summary
Bucky enters a local yarn store. His reason: Steve. His mission: crafting. His experience: surprisingly good.
This story is almost entirely composed of the never-ending scene wherein Bucky and a yarn store employee discuss how to choose a yarn project and then select yarn. The author is okay with this, perhaps because the author is a knitter. (And crocheter, and sometimes spinner, and sometimes weaver... you get the point.)
Bucky has trauma, but while it's very present here, it isn't going to blow up in his face, and the spectacular employee he's interacting with does their best to help him get through the experience safely and successfully.

Somehow, Bruce had directed Bucky to what had to be the only craft store in all of New York City with employees who could handle an uncomfortable, mostly non-verbal ex-assassin. (The Bruce-voice didn’t point out that Bruce himself probably liked the store for the same reasons Bucky did. Bucky already knew that.)

He stopped dead as Alastor crawled backwards until he met the trunk of the tree behind him, eyes fixed on the ground. His legs came up to hide his face, buried between pointy knees, and hands embedded in red hair, pulling strands from it.
“Al, please” he begged. “Please don’t hurt yourself. I just want to—”
The static raised enough to drown his own voice, and Lucifer was unsure of what to do. He didn’t want to betray Alastor’s trust by touching him while he was in such a state, and his words seemed to be making everything worse. The sinner was flinching whenever his voice came out and…
And…
Lucifer couldn’t do this.

There are bad days and good days. Today is one of the bad ones, and that's alright. Trauma is not made to be dealt alone, and both Lucifer and Alastor have more than just themselves to help along the way.

So, um, I have said this before, when we kind of tip-toed about the ‘sex thing’ before, but I will not do anything that you don’t want. Not only in bed! Just… in general. And I will not take anything for granted, Al.”

It's just entertainment, of course, no feelings involved. Then Lilith shows up at the Hazbin hotel, and suddenly, Lucifer is going on dates instead of engaging with Alastor. Outrageous! But of course Alastor isn't jealous, because if he was, that would mean the little duck king actually meant something to him...
