Injured, paranoid, and trapped in the body of an animal, Neil is at the mercy of the foxes’ kindness. And he’s never been one to put faith in the kindness of others. But the foxes are, in their strange ways, kind; Abby is firm in her care, Wymack is gruff in his concern, and Andrew is hilariously blasé in his curious interest. Tim Drake thought he was going to die when got thrown through an unknown portal during a fight against a magic user. Instead he got sent to an Alternate Earth — one without vigilantes, superheroes, or metahumans, and, most importantly, without his family. Tim tries to keep his head down while searching for a way back home, but with each passing month, he loses a little more hope.
Exy wasn’t part of his plan; it was never supposed to be more than the unfamiliar sport that existed here and that his alternate self apparently played. But months pass, Tim is still stuck and unable to freely resume his activities as a vigilante without drawing too much attention in this world, so he starts using Exy as an outlet for his growing frustration.
He definitely didn’t expect or plan for his playing to bring him one Coach David Wymack to his school with an offer to play for his team.

Andrew felt his world tilt on its axis. He tried to parse through his days at Easthaven to determine when Proust was replaced by the new doctor and realized it happened a few weeks into his stay - before the Foxes began break. Meaning Neil was telling the truth. But he couldn’t be. He couldn’t have gone through whatever happened in the Nest for Andrew. People didn’t shield Andrew from tragedy; they used him to protect themselves.
Like he could hear the battle in Andrew’s head, Neil murmured, “You always have our backs – I needed to watch yours.”
