    Summary

“How about tapping your cheek like you’re deep in thought,” she said, voice bright. “I think that would look cool.”
Welt gave her a wry smile as he complied. “If that’s your goal, I fear you chose the wrong subject.” The words on the page in front of him stared back, incomprehensible. “I think you’d have better luck with Dan Heng.”
She paused then, lowering her camera to look at him curiously. “Do you think so?” Though it had been truth spoken in jest, he’d not expected such an earnest response. “There’s more to looking cool than just being serious all the time, Mr. Yang.”

The dangerous thing about March was that it was near impossible to refuse her anything.

    Summary

Sylvain leans forward in his chair. “There’s another way to ease the pain,” he says. “I don’t think it works for everyone, but it’s helped some—people I know a lot.”

Dimitri frowns. “What are you suggesting?”

“Orgasms can help,” Sylvain says unflinchingly.

    Summary

The kitchen is so full; of the din from pots and pans and kitchen utensils and the rich smells of the food in question. Of three people moving around each other with lingering touches and gentle kisses to cheeks and temples. Domesticity is something that Clorinde did not think suited Wriothesley or Neuvillette, but it’s hard to ignore the draw of the way they lean close and share a thought or two. How Wriothesley pours out coffee and the way Neuvillette cringes when he takes a sip—but keeps cradling the mug all the same.

Mates, she thinks. And somehow, she fits in there too, between them. She isn’t a thorn in their side but rather a little piece wedged into a Clorinde-shaped notch.

As their shared relationship shifts, Clorinde stays through breakfast, leading to a lazy morning spent together.

    Summary

“Childe,” he tries again, keeping his voice low and placating, “listen to me. You’re rutting—”

“Fuck,” hisses Childe. “I’m—” He’s at the point of losing his composure. He sets to pacing again, his boots dragging across the finely woven rug. It’s more obvious now, thinks Morax, those cracks in his being. Childe is nervous—nervous about a rut, nervous about being away from home. His gaze flickers to Morax for a brief second before darting away.

Nervous about being locked in a room with another powerful alpha.

Emperor Morax is given a robust alpha named Childe by the Tsaritsa, only to learn that he's on the cusp of a rut upon arrival.

    Summary

A beat of silence passes. When Wriothesley looks up again, Neuvillette’s expression has noticeably relaxed. The barely-there hint of a smile looks beautiful in the dim light of his office.

“I am most grateful for your invitation, Your Grace, and I would happily accept,” he says.

Wriothesley had not expected that answer. He blinks. “Really?”

“Of course,” Neuvillette says, amusement creeping into his tone. “The event happens to fall during a lighter period of activity here at the Palais Mermonia. A happy coincidence. I can be free for the evening.”

The Fortress of Meropide comes together for a scrap-up celebration of White Day—a grander event than any they've hosted before. Wriothesley invites Neuvillette, and the night proceeds in a way that he is not at all expecting.
