Summary
As time passes by, Cole has found himself becoming more and more critical of his hothead teammate. Kai is dangerously reckless, speaks every stupid thing that comes to his mind, and is obnoxiously self-aggrandizing…almost to the point of narcissism. The Master of Earth struggles to reconcile the idea of such a person remaining on Master Wu’s team. When, clearly, their values are in opposition.
Before he can bring up his concerns, Kai goes missing. Cole doesn’t expect to be the one to find him, much less wind up trapped in a hellish echo-chamber of his own thoughts with only the Red Ninja for company.

Well damn this was amazing. I really appreciate younger me for finding this fic but wow my understanding of english back then was not the best lmao. A lot of narrative cues flew way, waaay, over my head and the whole fic ended up feeling like a fever dream. I sucked at reading between the lines smh.
I also love, LOVE the motif of echoes. Omg every time i see that word (or anything related to it) i wince?? I am so glad i decided to read this again even tho i remembered the story as being some weird stranded at a cave with white lizard situation. That was not the point at all, past me🥲
Also this author is amazing i hope i can write as well as they do one day. Legit i cried like twice while reading because ughhh guys :(( u dont rlly mean that whyyy :(( and yeah im out of words hshsjhshd
