John should probably get up. There’s a feeling like he’s letting Hal step all over him again, whilst he’s sat on the floor in his undershirt and a pair of sweatpants, but then he considers that this is the most Hal has spoken at him without making a dig into his ideas or turning mean, and he sort of wants to live in a bit longer before things all inevitably turn to shit again.

It was like the set-up for a bad joke: a retired Quincy and his estranged son walk into an exiled shinigami and his family's home, to have dinner with his mortal enemy because the children were cousins. Joined by a talking 'cat' and a possessed stuffed animal.
Only in Karakura, home to all these oddities (and more), was this set-up somehow nothing more than simply two estranged families getting together for dinner once a week on Thursdays.
However, centuries of conflict and a lifetime of grudges don't simply go away over one or two dinners. Not without at least one minor disaster.Series
