No is on the tip of Kei’s tongue, but the other boy is looking at him with a mix of embarrassment and hope, and Kei knows how much it takes to admit you need help with something. He knows after what an ass he's been to Kageyama and his friend, his boyfriend, all week, it's probably taking something extra right now.
And here's the thing. Another thing. To say that Kei doesn't get summer crushes isn't entirely accurate anymore.

Despite his best judgment, Kei may be developing a something for the two boys who rent surfboards from his shop every day. It’s more than just a headache (though it certainly is that, too), and before he knows it, he’s agreeing to teach the idiots how to catch waves in the summer heat. Summary
Sweets had long since learned that, out of everyone who worked at or with the Jeffersonian, Agent Booth was quite possibly the least dangerous person to be around. Sure, he had plenty of formal training, and he was prone to outbursts, but he tended to focus those towards inanimate objects and the case they were solving at the moment, never at colleagues or peers. And yet, there was a nagging feeling in the back of Sweets’ mind, something he couldn’t quite put his finger on, that Brennan was the safer person for him to be close to.
or, Sweets finds himself cautious around Booth after he's the main suspect in a murder investigation. Booth mans up and apologizes for being a dick.
