He could take one step forward. Maybe two. Frank wouldn't move away. Peter doesn't know how he knows that, but he does. He can feel it in the way Frank watches him, in the way his expression changes whenever Peter gets too close, like he's fighting some internal battle that Peter desperately wishes he could understand because maybe, just maybe, its the same fight Peter battles whenever Frank dresses his wound.
Peter doesn't move because Frank is his friend and Peter likes having him as a friend far too much to risk losing him.
But Peter is a smart ass and he cannot help what comes out of his mouth.
Or, Peter needs to take some control and Frank lets him.

Summary
Peter doesn’t want to open his eyes. There’s a non-zero chance that they’ve gone pitch dark, animal—further evidence of just how completely he’s lost control of himself in such a short amount of time. How he can’t control himself around Frank, can’t stop the need to take more than he’s offered, and how maybe that’s enough to sever whatever tenuous connection they have. Another sob bullies its way out of his chest.
“Look at me,” Frank grunts, low and sudden like thunder, grabbing Peter’s chin with a forceful hand. An authoritative edge sharpens his voice, all First Lieutenant and father. Peter can’t help the way his eyes fly open at the command, the weight of his body slumping pathetically into the palm of Frank’s hand.
(Peter is having a hard time deciding what he wants from Frank. Frank doesn't make it any easier.)

Peter cleared his throat. “Sorry, that, uh, that was weird.” He nervously laughed. “I know why I said that.” His eyes slightly widened. “I mean, I don—” He stopped mid-sentence, mouth open. “I don—” His eyes flicked to every corner in the kitchen.
If Frank didn’t know any better, Peter appeared scared as he put his hand to his throat.
Frank’s heart beat wildly. Something was wrong.

After getting cut in a fight with Scorpion, Peter Parker is cursed to tell Frank Castle nothing but the truth.
