Integration Stress Testing by Iampermanentlyconfused

Summary
"You're restless", ART said.
"Yeah, no shit." I had been patrolling (pacing) down ART's corridors for 2.3 hours now. I was actually surprised it took this long for it to say anything.
"Mild exercise and changing scenery can help alleviate restlessness," ART said, "however, given that you have been doing that for 2 hours and 19 minutes without improvement, I suggest another course of action."
"Like what?" I asked.
"Moderate to extreme exercise might give better results. You could make use of my gym. Or..." ART paused for almost 5 seconds, which meant it was either thinking really hard or it just did that for dramatic effect. My bet was on the second option.
"Or we could do some integration stress testing."
Or: ART and Murderbot do
sexintegration stress testing to help Murderbot relax. ART might have some ulterior motives.

I wanted to see you, of course.
It was almost to the corner of the room, where the wall with the bathroom door intersected the wall with the cabin door. I hadn’t moved except to follow it with my featureless face. Its brow furrowed, its shoulders rising and falling just slightly faster than baseline. “Why?”
I assumed it only meant why now, because this situation at large wasn’t new for it. It had made my drone’s acquaintance many times before, and in far more abrupt circumstances than this. I tilted my head at it. I have new equipment to test.
It stopped in its gradual journey along the wall. I would never get enough of its dark, dark eyes gone wide with shock. “ART, no.”
Come here, SecUnit.

Summary
There is an unidentified creature aboard. To someone that didn’t know it, ART would have sounded completely normal.
I shoved my head back into my shirt, which was halfway off, and my feet back into my work boots, which were all the way off. I had been shot at a little bit, so some of the fabric was crispy in a way that rubbed against my organic parts uncomfortably. what the fuck do you mean, unidentified creature?
I mean a creature that’s unidentified. The “obviously, you idiot.” was silent, but somehow also very loud.

Summary
You are currently nearly five minutes late for our planned rendezvous, and have been incommunicado for seven minutes prior. Our contingency plan dictates that should you be more than ten minutes late to our rendezvous, the rest of the crew and myself will leave you behind to escape on your own. Fortunately for you, I think this plan is stupid.
Murderbot disappears on a mission. Three finds it and brings it back to life.

The coffee machine was fucking haunted. Or something. I wasn’t sure what else it could’ve been—I didn’t even really believe haunting was possible, but what the fuck did I know? Maybe those supernatural serials were more true than I thought.
I made the rational choice and unplugged the machine.

"I had another memory glitch, didn't I."
...Yes.
ART was reluctant. It got even more reluctant when I asked it to show me the false memory. Given the subject matter of the scene that initiated your shutdown, I am concerned that showing you would only cause it to re-occur. Eventually I persuaded it to tell me instead of showing me. Apparently it had been a corrupted version of the same clip, but instead of the show characters I had [REDACTED]
Yeah. Yeah, I know. Just give me a fucking minute.

Summary
I only fired once before Perihelion wrenched control of my energy weapons from me. The shot missed 1.0's brain stem by three centimeters. If I had fired again, I would not have missed.
If 1.0 had been human, I would have killed it. If we had not been on the Perihelion, I would have killed it. If Perihelion had been fractions of a second slower, I would have killed it.
I wanted to kill it because I wanted to win.

Positive Representation, Complex Emotions, and a Fictional but Semi-Heroic SecUnit in Media by BlatantBookworm

Summary
I don’t normally pay that much attention to the credits. In general, I tend to care more about the fictional characters than the real humans playing them, but this had caught my attention.
I mean, it wasn't the first serial that ever put in a SecUnit as a villain instead of a prop. RihaniLane Street had actually made their SecUnit villain sympathetic before it tried to kill everyone. And obviously this fictional SecUnit was going to be a villain, too, because they always were, but that scene was —
The credits said ‘Made and Produced in GoodNightLander Independent.’
Oh.-
Or, Murderbot has feelings about finding positive representation.
Mostly positive.
Even when humans try, they get SecUnits wrong in media.
(Not the murder, the murders were justified, but the writers made the fictional SecUnit like cubicles)
(It’s still pretty positive.)Series

Gurathin and Murderbot might still not be close, but that doesn't mean Gurathin won't help fix some malfunctioning code in its memory systems. He would have preferred to know what kind of memory it was beforehand, though.

Summary
“Perihelion!” she whispered urgently, “What’s happening to SecUnit?”
“There is no need to worry, Dr Mensah,” Perihelion replied, “SecUnit has gone into an involuntary stasis sequence.” Its voice was calm and reassuring, though there was some other emotion underneath that Mensah couldn’t quite identify.
--
Murderbot is more comfortable around its favourite human than it realizes. Mensah and ART have a lot of emotions about this.
