    Summary

Obi-Wan narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?" He asked, hoping a direct question would yield answers. The old man seemed adept at side-stepping information when asked a bit more deftly. “I’ve never heard of a Master with your level of talent.”

The old man seemed surprised. “If you’ve never heard of one like me, then what good would my name be? You wouldn’t know it.”

Obi-Wan felt a flare of irritation, and quickly squashed it. The old man blinked, as if he hadn’t expected to feel that, and he smiled, sadly. “My name is Luke,” he said, as if a peace offering.

The force trilled in his ear, and Obi-Wan frowned. "Luke what?" He asked, and the old man, this Luke, smiled wryly.

    "Luke Skywalker.”

this fic is so so so so sooooooo good. i really need to come back to this in case it updates. or just because. it's definitely worth re-reading, even incomplete.

    . . .

There was no one to greet them when they landed, and the droids escorted Luke out into and through an empty landing platform.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘦, he thought, feeling the weight of irony pressing down on him. It said something sad about his life that he’d come to expect celebrity treatment when he was captured by the enemy. It wasn’t that they’d done anything to ensure his comfort, far from it, but they were usually there to 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘵. It wasn’t encouraging; without the “you are now my prisoner" orientation, Luke was still going into this completely blind.

    . . .

“Count Dooku will be very glad to see you,” one of the droids said, and the others began to echo with robotic laughter, some joining in with a, “roger, roger.” The sound of their clanking grew fainter as they walked away, leaving Luke in his cell to wonder--

    “Who is Count Dooku?”

    . . .

“Shut up!” the Sith snapped. “My master wants you uninjured, and I would hate to have to disappoint him.” Her voice hissed, and her speech was as melodramatic as any Dark-sider that Luke had ever met, but Luke had committed his own fair share of melodrama in his youth, so he could hardly criticize.

    Time to change tactics.

    . . .

Struggling, Leia fought to breathe before she realized that Ventress wasn’t blocking her air, simply holding her elevated and keeping her blaster from firing. Slowly, Leia floated through the air and came to a stop just short of Ventress.

Her eyes were not the sickly yellow that Leia had expected. Nor were they the blood red she had seen. Instead, they were a pale blue-green color--pretty, if not for the circumstances. It was enough to stop Leia from struggling.

Ventress stared at her for a long moment, face a fierce mask.

    . . .

“So much has happened,” Obi-Wan added, whatever discontent in him set aside, for now. “Dooku dead. Ventress…” he paused, waving his hand. “Here.” She sneered at him, but it seemed almost playful to Padmé.

    . . .

He put his saber away, closing his robe around him and looking around the room. “I don’t suppose there would be anything here that says “Property of Palpatine” or “my plan for galaxy-wide domination?””

    “Doubtful.”

“Dear diary, my name is Palpatine, but I also go by Darth Sidious. Today I begin my plan to undermine democracy and sew chaos throughout the galaxy.”

Ventress narrowed her eyes at him. “How many times have you been hit in the head.”

Luke grinned back at her, and when she rolled her eyes and began to investigate the room, Luke turned around and did the same.

    . . .

i love this Ventress, and i love this fic.

"Sure," said En, "but it's not like we can do anything about it."

"We could give him Blackwhip about it," said Banjo. "That would screw up all of his ideas."

    . . .

fucking five rivers wrote a bnha fic and im only now reading it???

its funny and good and not getting updated rn i dont think (sad)

+5 pts for correctly gendering dark shadow my beloved <333

    . . .

...y'know what? yeah. I'm gonna reread this. i remember loving this fic.

    also—

    First laughs like his brother

—devastated that's not a tag. truly, just... heartbroken 😔

    . . .

In the swirling darkness of an unreal landscape, a white haired man cackled as four ghosts watched on with varying levels of worry. Four ghosts, although there were eight present in total. Two of the others were off in a corner pouting, a third wasn't really conscious (or a ghost, but, technicalities) and the fourth was, well, the one laughing.

"You know," said the singular woman ghost, leaning towards the youngest-looking member or the group, "when I first got here, I couldn't see the resemblance, but now..."

The laughter cut off. "Why would you say something so cruel, Nana?" he asked. "I'm just excited for our new bearer. The Ninth."

"You didn't act this way for Eighth."

    "Shut up, En."

    . . .

    delightful

    . . .

"What the hell," said Banjo, jumping from his chair. "Are those-?"

"Our quirks?" asked En, edging closer for a better look.

    "Those were not there before."

"Looks like One for All hit singularity," said Yoichi, quickly, in a way that wasn't suspicious at all.

    "Are you sure-" started Hikage.

"After all, there's nothing else it could possibly be."

    . . .

    hmmmmm

    . . .

"He did do that, didn't he?" asked Yoichi, his eyebrows almost touching his hairline. "Nana, your boy is a disaster."

"All of us were disasters. We're still disasters."

    "I'm not."

"Hikage, you spent most of your adult life living in the woods, completely isolated from humanity."

    "I know, it was great."

    "Unbelievable."

    . . .

Yoichi gasped, as if scandalized. "You'd want us to lie to Izuku?"

"Okay, seriously, what is up with you and Nine?" asked En.

Despite not having a body, Yoichi began to visibly sweat. "Nothing, nothing at all. I just... think he's neat?"

"If you're going to lie to us, can you not do it with archaeomemes?" asked Nana.

"No, no, actually, I can get behind this," said En. "Would you say Izuku has... vibes?"

    Yoichi nodded solemnly.

    . . .

The next thing Izuku knew, he was in clear light and falling. From at 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 two stories up, over the flood zone.

    And then he stopped.

    .

The ghosts whipped their heads around to stare at Nana. She was sitting on a stool, hiding her face in her hands, though whether it was out of embarrassment or fear for Izuku was unclear.

    "Nana..." said Yoichi, softly.

"I know, I know, I'm sorry I saw him falling and pani-"

"What did you do that for!" exclaimed Banjo. "He was only fifteen, twenty meters up! Into water!"

"That's twice as high as Olympic divers go! And they screw up their bodies all the time if they hit wrong!" shot back Nana, other emotions abandoned in favor of rage.

    . . .

"How could we possibly have noticed?" demanded Banjo.

    "I noticed," said Hikage.

"I- Wait, what, really?" Yoichi turned to Hikage.

"Yes," said Hikage, gravely. "All for One was in the family photo on the wall in Ninth's house. The one in the living room. I thought we were just avoiding the subject to be polite."

"Hikage," said Nana, "I cannot begin to tell you how much that wasn't what was going on. Is that why you two were sulking?" she asked Third.

    . . .

Banjo took Hikage to the side while the other ghosts were still wading through their existential crisis.

"Man," he said, "Hikage, bro. You know I love you."

    "You do?"

"Like... at least eighty-five percent of the time."

    "Ah, continue."

"But next time you think one of us has a secret relative out there, you've got to say something so we don't get blindsided."

    "You're sure?"

    "Positive."

"Alright, then. I couldn't help but notice that both Ninth's mother and 'Tomura' share a strong resemblance to Nana."

    "... I've changed my mind."

She breaks it first, “Could I ask for something selfish? Or, I guess you could call it a wish?”

When she catches my glare, she only giggles and grins.

“As long as it’s not for a contract, sure.”

“Mmm . . . well, it’s kind of a contract. But not a magical girl one.”

She seems delighted by her own cheekiness, but I only roll my eyes. These jokes are tasteless on a level she can barely imagine.

I shake my head. "No, I was born in Mitakihara City. I was hospitalized for a time due to a heart condition, and was only discharged shortly before transferring."

He blinks. "Oh, wow. You look very healthy."

Madoka, perhaps from having taken her first sip of coffee, perks up.

"She is! She set the junior high record on the high jump her first day of class."

I take my own sip of coffee. Talking to adults is always a problem - they narrow in on the improbabilities of my story much more easily than children do.

"I made a very complete recovery."

I can see the gears turning in his brain as he tries to make sense of that, but he's quick to mask it with a smile.

    "Well, that's good."

this fic...... is really really good.
