Stiles keeps running into Derek, everywhere and often. And it’s not a problem, per se, a little bit the opposite, actually, because Stiles is still trying to figure out how Dad got mixed up with one of the oldest, most prestigious—thank you, suspiciously well stocked local history section of the public library—werewolf families on this side of the continent, but. It’s also a lot of a problem, because instead of actually talking to Derek like a sensible human being, Stiles turns into the worst version of his awkward teenage self whenever he spots the other man.
So, it’s a little bit of a lot of a problem, or something like that.

“Don’t hurt the human,” he warned, voice dropping dangerously. “I’m rather fond of him.”
The beast nodded, then asked, “And your nephew?”
Oh, it would be so easy to rid himself of his problem right now. Kill Derek, and the bond broke. Stiles would be untethered and Peter could swoop in to claim him for himself. But then, Stiles was young, and while not old, Peter felt he could never make someone like that happy. Stiles wanted Derek, and nobody else would do.
Unfortunately.
After a long pause, Peter shrugged slightly. “Just don’t kill him.”

1. A Wise Father:
This is the one where the Sheriff doesn't buy Stiles's half-hearted attempt at backing Scott's framing of Derek after the school incident, so Derek isn't a fugitive. And with a bit better observation of Stiles, and some further events, Sheriff Stilinski finds out about werewolves and puts Derek in protective custody.
This is also the story where the Sheriff gets bitten when he goes to the McCall house to protect them from the alpha.
This is also the story where Stiles is kidnapped by Allison and Kate and electrocuted. Allison has helped Kate because Kate said Stiles is a werewolf, but she finds out pretty quickly Kate doesn't care that Stiles is actually a human. But she leaves him there with Kate anyway.
