Dennis asks, because he wants to know, and because he never asks anything in this matter—the matter of the things that had gone unsaid in their relationship, the matter of everything Robby hasn't said, the parts of his husband Dennis doesn't know, and Dennis feels like he's testing the boundaries of their very recent marriage with this thing he's asking.
